QUNDIS concludes research agreement with the University of Maribor, Slovenia
QUNDIS, the Erfurt-based leading manufacturer of measuring devices and the University of Maribor in Slovenia’s second-largest city today (8.12.) signed a contract covering cooperation in the fields of research and development. The aim of the cooperation is the further development of wireless data transmission in measuring and recording the consumption of heating and water in private households and commercial premises. The QUNDIS Group has recently acquired WECONIS, an innovative Slovenian hardware and software company. The cooperation agreement was signed today, Monday, in Maribor on behalf of QUNDIS by managers Thomas Röhrl and Dieter Berndt and on behalf of the University of Maribor by Prof. Borut Zalik, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Dr. Iztok Kramberger, a lecturer in the faculty. The QUNDIS Group, an innovative provider of measuring systems for recording consumption data, has long had a close connection with Slovenia. The company is by some distance the market leader in equipping Slovenian households with modern wireless technology for the recording and transmission of consumption data. In addition, on the basis of its acquisition of hardware and software provider WECONIS (June 2014) and this new cooperation with the University of Maribor, QUNDIS aims to lay the foundations for revolutionising the growing international market for energy management solutions with innovative products. Thomas Röhrl, Managing Director of the QUNDIS Group states: “The University of Maribor is well known beyond the borders of Slovenia for its innovative energy. We expect the cooperation to strengthen our technological leadership in the interests of European cooperation between science and business.” Prof. Borut Zalik, Dean: “This contract with QUNDIS is a further major milestone in the efforts our faculty is making towards internationalising its operations. It has long been a priority with us to encourage students and academics to participate actively in research projects, networks and industrial cooperations which go across individual countries.” QUNDIS GMBH is located on the GVZ (Güterverkehrszentrum) business park in Erfurt-Hochstedt. With a highly qualified workforce of approximately 280 the company is a leading provider of measuring devices and systems for the recording and billing of water and heating consumption. Its customers include in particular metering service companies and housing management firms. Approximately 15% of QUNDIS employees are occupied in research and development.
